I am delighted to announce that this week Our Moon CEO Helen Leale-Green will be paying a visit to Zambia, promoting Our Moon’s aims and ambitions, whilst bringing together Zambian communities in the quest for knowledge.
So, what will be happening? Highlights include:
Tomorrow’s Leaders Forums
Three Tomorrow’s Leaders Forums (TLFs) in three centres across Zambia, raising awareness of opportunities in higher education. At each conference, we hope to highlight the academic potential each student possesses, and how this power can be used to improve themselves and their country. TLFs are workshops conducted at various centres, including Hillcrest School, where students can improve their leadership, citizenship and employability shills, as well as informing them of opportunities to apply abroad.
Teacher Conferences
Teacher conferences raise awareness of how teachers can improve the experience of their students, and how they can encourage them to excel in their studies. Teachers must have the knowledge not only to teach essential subjects, but also on wider aspects of education, such as alternative qualifications and higher education. In running these conferences, we are increasing teacher involvement and thus helping these students go further.
University Application Boot-Camps
Trust me, applying to university isn’t easy without guidance. Our Moon has reached out to scholars and former Hillcrest students with aims to council potential university students throughout the application process, as well as identifying suitable universities and aiding scholarship application.
Activities and Events
And finally, to top off the week we have some exciting activities, including a debate night, sports day and prom, giving students an insight into the non-academic (and fun) side of university life.
