Based on the core principles of our Young Leaders programme, our Identity and Expression programme prepares high school students and young people for university.
Despite graduating from high school with outstanding grades, pitfalls in the Zambian education system often mean students aren’t adequately prepared for university life. As a result, students struggle to reach their full potential, and are at risk of dropping out.
To give these young people the best chances possible, our Identity and Expression programme draws on the core principles of our Young Leaders Programme and aims to disrupt mindsets by questioning the positives and negatives of traditional Zambian education systems and culture.
By exploring the role of the individual in universal systems, students develop the skills and confidence they need to solve problems, start projects and participate in written and oral conversations — all essential to university success.
Identity and Expression programme impact
After completing our Identity and Expression programme, teachers report students are better able to articulate their thoughts, are more comfortable presenting in public, and are noticeably more confident in themselves and their abilities.
Students are also better able to define balanced life goals, and can identify the steps they need to take to achieve them.
Over time, we plan to grow our Identity and Expression programme to include students currently in school across the country, giving as many students as possible the chance to become catalysts for change in Zambia and beyond.
However, we can’t do this without your support — donate today to help us empower Zambia’s future leaders to excel in their university studies and beyond.
“We can tell which students have been through Our Moon’s Identity and Expression Programme. They conduct themselves more assuredly in class and are more curious to ask questions.”
