Change young lives through social mobility by partnering with Our Moon today.

CORPORATES

Why should corporates partner with Our Moon?

By partnering with Our Moon, you’ll not only directly improve your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), but you’ll also be empowering the next generation of Africa’s future leaders.

How corporates can support Our Moon

You can support Our Moon by fundraising, offering an internship, or by volunteering.

Fundraising

Whether it’s a coffee morning or an evening gala, fundraising events are a great way to get the team together for a good cause.

We’re happy to facilitate fundraising events on your behalf, and if you make us your charity of the year, we’ll offer hands-on fundraising support for the whole year round.

Offer an internship

At Our Moon, we offer students and alumni the chance to take on an internship as part of our programme.

As well as broadening their skillset, students learn more about the professional opportunities available to them in their chosen sectors, and find out more about what it takes to become employable in those fields.

We are looking for companies to offer our students paid internships, not only to reward them for their hard work, but to give them the chance to learn about financial responsibility and, if possible, save towards their university pre-departure expenses.

Internships in Zambia are also needed for our alumni, giving them the chance to work during their university holidays, and to make giving back to their communities possible when returning home.

Previously, Our Moon students and alumni have interned at organisations including PwC, KPMG and Copper Rose Zambia.

Volunteering

We’re always looking for volunteers to support our mission, whether that’s by mentoring our students, assisting with fundraising or by getting involved at our site in Zambia.

Through our mentorship initiative, employees can volunteer to set up calls with our students to share their experiences, giving students exposure to the different career paths available to them and the steps they need to take to get into these roles.

For a more hands-on volunteering opportunity, consider visiting our site in Zambia, where you can take on a challenge event and work with our students as part of a multi-cultural exchange.

SCHOOLS

Why should schools partner with Our Moon?

We believe every child should have the opportunity to pursue higher education, both in the UK and abroad. With a shared mission, Our Moon can bolster university applications by providing volunteering opportunities, and enrich students’ lives with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to our site in Zambia.

How schools can support Our Moon

You can support Our Moon by fundraising or by supporting students as they volunteer with us.

Fundraising

Fundraising events are a great way to engage students, and give them an opportunity to get them involved in event planning and management. We offer support for all events planned, and by making us your charity of the year, we’ll facilitate fundraising events all year round.

Volunteering

There are plenty of ways for both students and teachers to get involved in volunteering for Our Moon, from working on small projects both inside and out of the classroom, to helping out directly on our site in Zambia.

We also have a buddy system, where students from the UK and Zambia can buddy up and learn more about each other and their communities.

ECOLINT

Ecolint, or the International School of Geneva, gives students the opportunity to write a 4000-word, fully referenced research essay about world issues through a Zambian lens. Under the mentorship of chemistry and biology teacher Keith Browne, students learn about plagiarism and citations, and develop their academic writing and research skills, making them better equipped to take on university assignments.

In most cases, the essay is pivotal in helping students decide or confirm their choice of study when applying to university.

Ecolint also donates Chromebooks each year, giving students access to vital IT skills needed to carry out our programmes and thrive at university.

“My time at KPMG exposed me to realities I could only dream of. Seeing myself grow along the way and making new friends makes me appreciate the opportunity I have been given”.
